The Design
The location of the kitchen needed to remain in this area of the house so we focussed on maximising the use of the space and adding as much storage as possible. The existing island had a large ceiling hung extractor which blocked the line of sight across the island which made it difficult when entertaining. We redesigned the island to include a flush fitting Bora downdraft induction hob which freed up the space above for the feature pendant lighting. We then used a combination of special finishes to add depth to the design including special finish island doors in a copper finish. We love this finish as every door is sprayed separately so no two are the same. We agreed with the client that a “Microcement” floor would continue the industrial theme to the space and reflect light back up to the kitchen. The antique mirror kitchen splash back then provided a further texture within the design. We positioned floating shelves above the sink with integrated LED lighting and the timber finish added warmth to the design. To maximised storage we created a full bank of tall units to house the ovens and fridge freezer. The corner unit had a pullout worktop within it offering easy access to a coffee machine when in use. The black Quooker boiling water tap then offered another texture and matched the black handle rail details.
